Why True Leaders Always Eat Last…[Video]

Being a leader is not something I think we assign to ourselves, especially growing up in a “Me First” society.

However there are a few moments in your life when you come across something or someone that gives you clarity on what you are doing that for a split second you actually consider yourself a leader.

Today I saw this video by a mentor of mine Simon Sinek and experienced this for myself.

I hold a workshop for Entrepreneurs to work and mastermind on their Social Business Plans.

We not only work on the numbers, marketing strategies, operations and sales strategies but to also find the “WHY” purpose or noble cause in our efforts as social entrepreneurs.

I recently have been blessed to build a workshop room in my office to hold these mastermind groups of about 12 entrepreneurs in my home court.  I call it our boardroom where we are all equal and every idea is worth exploring.

One thing I decided is not to have any staff member help me, be there to pass materials out, or anything that would separate me from the rest as an “authority” figure.  In making this decision I want to serve my network, grab the water or tea they request, make the extra copies, share my ideas and strategies in an effort to give as much as I can to their purpose.

I never really knew how to articulate this to my team when they asked to help me, I just new this was the experience I wanted my mastermind workshops to have.  It kind of goes against all principles of positioning yourself as an influence or leader but at the same time just felt right to me.

After seeing Simon share this message and the idea even a respected tribe like the marines incorporate, it gave me that moment of clarity and validation.  I tend not to call myself or look at myself as a leader just because I kind of feel a bit uncomfortable or maybe egotistical if i did.  Not to say I would not like to be one, just feel funny calling myself one.

This was a powerful message I experienced which helps me to continue to do what I do. Whether it’s being a leader or just simply believing with every inch on my being that this is my purpose, moments like these are needed to recharge and move forward.

Search to constantly find messages, moments, places, and people that can give your purpose clarity.
